Slutty Sandwiches & Disco Dinners: Orlando’s food scene is heating up!
Messy, cheesy, borderline spiritual.
Orlando’s food scene is doing something special right now. Whether you’re pulling up to a curated dinner party in someone’s kitchen or grabbing a grilled cheese at 1AM in a dive bar parking lot — it’s giving personality, intention, and straight-up joy.

📍outside of Alfie’s, hanging by the food truck!
My night started at 8:30pm. I went to the “Hey Ladies”
The night before Industry Night, I found myself posted up at Maxtros. , a gourmet grilled cheese food truck that lives at Alfie’s on weekends — aka the late-night heart of the Mills 50 district.
I’ve gone three times in the past two weeks, and at this point, I’m basically a regular.
My order?
Maxtros Grilled Cheese — slutted out with bacon and egg.
It’s messy, perfect, and absolutely not meant to be shared. Pair it with their loaded fries, and you’ve got yourself a real deal meal.
If you’re heading out this weekend [03/25/25]:
• Maxtros is at R&B Wingfest from 12–7pm
• Then back at Alfie’s from 8pm–3am
Industry Night by Token
Monday,March 24, 2025
The next night, I cleaned up (a little) and made my way to Industry Night, hosted by Lynnette [@gremxlynn], curated through her business, Token (@token.cfl).
This was a dinner party with bones — four courses, house cocktails, a wine bar, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable to sparky up with your new pals at dinner.
The menu?
• Cold pasta salad with lemon vinaigrette and vegan feta
• Scallops over parsnip mash and pea purée
• Roasted lamb with sweet fruit glaze and veggie risotto
• (And a rhubarb bread pudding I didn’t get to try because I had to dip early — justice for me.)
The lamb? My favorite bite of the week.
Token & the Maxtros’ crew is creating something intentional and intimate. And it’s right here —in Central Florida, whether it’s mainly residing in the Mills area, in someone’s apartment, or on a random Monday, and I love that for those who are able to have access to this slice of heaven they have curated for the city.
I’ve gone three times in the past two weeks, and at this point, I’m becoming a regular. The food is that good, I swear by it!
My order?
Maxtros Grilled Cheese — slutted out with their famous cheese, adding bacon and egg to ame the perfect baconeggandcheese.
It’s messy, perfect, and absolutely not meant to be shared. Pair it with their loaded fries, and you’ve got yourself a true late night meal.
This weekend, I hit three spots in two days, and each one fed me in a different way (literally and spiritually). Let’s get into it.
The night started with happy hour at 6:30, which was spent smoking and getting to know the people around me. We all had one common topic on the mind: a four-course plated dinner surrounded by new and familiar faces in Orlando’s artsy, alternative crowd. Think disco aesthetics, curated cocktails, and dishes that tasted like someone actually cared about what they were feeding you.
Let’s talk food.
• Appetizer:
Cold pasta salad — grilled asparagus, green peas, fresh herbs, vegan feta, and a lemon vinaigrette. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, but it was one of the most refreshing bites of the night.
• Main Courses:
• Spring scallop — set atop a smooth risotto and vibrant pea purée, topped with shaved Brussels. A strong start.
• Roasted Lamb — this was my favorite. Tender, juicy, balanced by a sweet fruit glaze and paired with a mashed. I would have gone back for seconds if it wasn’t plated.
Though, I had to leave early and missed out on the bread pudding dessert (a moment of silence, please).
I made up for it by sliding over to Maxtros Gourmet Food Truck at the end of the week with my usual: the slutty grilled baconeggeandcheese.
Messy, cheesy, borderline spiritual. I devoured it while soaking in the night air amongst friends — the kind of bite that reminds you you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be!
Highlights:
• MAXTRO’S IS THE ONE TO WATCH, ORLANDO!
• I need summer to be filled with cameras, conversation, & sips of RumHaven cocktails.
• I finish this week with full stomach, a full heart, & the need to never miss another Token event again.
Orlando’s food culture is having a moment, and it’s not just happening in restaurants — it’s in backyards, on food trucks, in pop-ups and private dinner clubs, and late night hangs outside of the bars especially in Mills.
With Token, its not just food—it’s art, intimacy, and community in plate form. Lynnette is building a culinary movement that blends creativity, culture, and care. I’m excited to keep watching (and eating).
Support the people making it special.
Eat the grilled cheese.
Stay for dessert.
ALSO, I have a secret but don’t tell ANYONE!!!!
Maxtros’ has the best Mac and cheese in Orlando!
K, here’s some pics!!! Bye!!!
