My Summer Playlist: 4 Songs You Need to Hear

Nothings brings me more peace than driving alone and listening to my playlist in the car. The ability to go for a drive & listen to music in the car is a privilege I am grateful for and should show more gratitude for. Living in Central Florida means everything is at least 20 minutes away from you, no matter what part of town you live. (keyword: minimum). This gives me time to enjoy my thoughts, the latest episode of one of my favorite podcasts or listen to music.
When it comes to music, as the title states, I tend to hyperfixate. It happens with food, music, colors, clothes - but focusing on music, I don't know what it is, but the second I heard a specific note or vocal change in a song, I feel my soul levitate almost as if I’m the “spongebob levitating with headphones on meme.”
Once I get that feeling, I know I’m in love.
Here are my current hyper-fixation songs for the summer – some new & some seasoned* – that I have to listen in the car on the way to the function, on my way home, on my walks, and when I need to feel a pep in my fucking step bitch.

I came across BabyChiefDoIt’s Lunch break freestyle (lyrical lemonade) freestyle on IG and this video is what made me start listening to him. Definitely recommend listening to Mr.ChiefDoIt at the gym. Fair warning: if you listen while driving, it may make you feel like you’re in GTA and that 50mph might turn into 100 (from what I heard!)
Fave Lines
(Almost) The entire chorus- mixed in with the beat and the assertiveness in Baby Chief’s voice that he’s dead ass serious about what he’s saying - his friend Fox is the Lamilton to his Riley Freeman which is who baby chief do it is compared to on the internet frequently.

If I told you I was the truth, at the end of the day, we'll see who lyin' — I LOVE lines like this in songs! Whether it’s true or not, the assertiveness, the confidence in this young black man’s ability in his craft is something I do enjoy listening to. Uplifting.
When I take this bag from off of my back, I ain't pullin' out no pencil — that SOLD ME, IM SORRRRRRRY!!!! I love that line & laughed out loud when I realized AND PROCESSED what he meant. Immediately favorited the song.
The lines that’s a NO GO with me: I got hoes three times my age tryna take me down and I'm so little — if this is true,those women are predators and LOSERS. RUN!

I have FOLDED BY KEHLANI above this song & my finger/body would not let me click on that song without hearing this song. This is a summer song for all my single people. and a reminder. and my advice for the rest of summer if you’re under 25 (safely & if you want to be) — GO BE A HOE!
Mali Smith, along with Jessyka and Marni’s appearance, have made this my fav song to play on the way to the function, getting ready, heading home to stay awake on the drive home. It's a fun, catchy beat, and a good house party song to have on.

These songs have gotten me through summer.
I feel like when I go out, I hear the same setlist played over and over and over again, so when I get in my car, I can be the DJ and get a nice little palate cleanse.
